Mission Updates

Hubble Space Telescope: There will be another service call to the HST, on STS-82. Mark C. Lee, Steven L. Smith, Gregory J. Harbaugh and Joseph R. Tanner were announced by NASA to be the space walkers. STS-82 is scheduled for February 1997. Some of the things to be replaced are gyroscopes, tape recorders and a fine-guidance sensor to ensure the telescope's good health. They will also replace the spectrographs with a Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer.

SAC B Argentina is preparing it's first satellite for launch in October. But because of Pegasus problems it could face a delay.

Mir Astronaut Norman Thagard broke a 20-year American record for the longest stay in space in June 1995. The previous record of 84 days was set in February 1974 by thee Skylab astronauts. Rumor has it that Thagard could not stand the Russian space food.
